Climate Protection Task Force

By a resolution of the City Council on August 22, 2006, the Climate Protection Task Force was formed to Resolution 2006-112. Resolution 2006-112 was rescinded at the February 27, 2007 City Council meeting to re-establish the Climate Protection Task Force's membership. The most current Resolution No. 2009-125 updates the CPTF's membership.

Mission Statement:
The United States, with less than five percent of the world's population, is responsible for producing approximately twenty five percent of the world's global warming pollutants. The Climate Protection Tast Force follows the mission of the Climate U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement and makes a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emission in our communities by seven percent below 1990 levels by 2012 through actions like increasing energy efficiency, reducing vehicle miles traveled, maintaining healthy urban forests, reducing sprawl and promoting use of clean renewable energy resources.
As signers of the Agreement, the City Council has supported its missions by appointing a sub-committee of the City Council to examine and recommend climate protection strategies for City government, businesses, households, residents and neighborhood groups.

Members:
Christy Abreu, Del Britton, Sharon Crull, Doug Cutting, John Draper, Sandra Ericson, Tom Faherty, Susan McWilliams, Ralph Myers, Steve Patterson, Allen Price, Katie Schnable, William Silfvast, Loraine Stuart, Carol Troy.

Carol Troy, Chair; Sandra Ericson, Vice-Chair

Meetings:
Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 5:00 p.m. at Napa Valley College, UpValley Campus at Pope and College Ave., St. Helena. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Global Warming Library:
In an effort to raise awareness of the global warming problem and to educate the public about how to decrease the amount of Carbon emitted, there is an electronic library from this site and also a hands-on collection of materials located at the St. Helena Library on Library Lane.
